Sorghum bicolor

This fast-growing broom corn can reach heights of 8–10 feet by autumn, producing stunning plumes of seed heads that are perfect for both fresh and dried flower arrangements, or for making crafty brooms. If you leave unharvested plants in your garden through autumn and winter, the large seed heads will attract a variety of birds to your garden for a snack. We harvested this lovely seed crop from Top Crops farm.

For best results, direct sow seeds ¼” deep any time between late spring, after your last frost, and early to mid-June. Thin seedlings to 1-foot spacing for optimal growth.
